Protect Yourself from Immigration Scams
USCIS will only communicate with you about your immigration case through official mail. These letters come to your mailing address in clearly marked envelopes from the US government.
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is the federal agency that oversees lawful immigration to the United States. USCIS processes applications for immigration benefits such as work permits, green cards, naturalization, asylum, and humanitarian protections. Learn how to spot real USCIS communications.
Keep In Mind
USCIS will not contact you via personal social media accounts (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, etc.)
Official emails and websites always end in “.gov”
USCIS will never demand payment over the phone, by email, through gift cards, or by wiring money
Common Scams Include
People pretending to be USCIS officers or offering “special help” with your case
Calls, texts, or social media messages asking for money or personal information
Misleading offers of support in exchange for favors or repayment
If you receive an offer that seems too good to be true, don’t fall for it before checking with an accredited representative or a licensed immigration attorney. BIC can help you determine whether it’s legitimate and guide you on the proper steps.
