Our Services Are Confidential!

  • BIC wants to remind you that our services are completely confidential.

  • We are not the Government of the US nor are we the Immigration Service.

  • We are here to help and understand that immigration can be a sensitive topic requiring that clients and case workers are able to speak freely and openly to best assist, and in some cases, protect a client.

  • Please do not be afraid to access the services you need.

BIC Confidentiality Policy

It is the policy of the Berkshire Immigrant Center to keep all information regarding a person receiving services confidential. Access to this information is restricted in order to ensure the individual’s right to confidentiality.

If necessary a client may authorize BIC to release their information and related documents to an authorized immigration attorney(s), social service provider or third party. BIC will not disclose confidential information to a third party without the client’s express consent to release such information. Personnel may not confirm or deny that an individual is receiving services at the Center to an unauthorized person, unless permission to do so has been given by the person.Center personnel will take affirmative action to safeguard confidentiality.

Information may be shared among BIC’s personnel as necessary to facilitate effective services. Consultants, volunteers, interns, auditors, contractors, and other outside agents, who in their relationship with the Center may be exposed to confidential material, are required to sign an agreement stating they will treat the information in a confidential manner. All personnel are required to know and strictly follow all procedures involving the protection of client confidentiality.
