Becoming a Naturalized Citizen

BIC’s Director of Client and Community Service Lorena Dus was sworn in as a naturalized US citizen, along with 11 other immigrants, at a ceremony at Naumkeag in Stockbridge on October 14, 2020.

Lorena is originally from Venezuela. The turbulence in her home country – plus studying politics in college – ignited her passion to make a difference. While living in Ireland and earning a Master’s Degree in Human Rights, she met a young man from the Berkshires who was traveling. They fell in love, got married, and settled here.

Lorena joined the BIC team in 2017. As BIC’s Senior Case Worker, she has helped thousands of clients with their immigration cases, connected them with services, and helped many on their journeys to becoming citizens.

Finally, in 2020, it was Lorena’s turn to become a naturalized US citizen and no global pandemic was going to stop her!
